Yes, I believe they did. I've attended churches who preach those "gender roles." They reinforce the man's sinful nature to dominate their wives. The wife is left feeling like a little girl who is spiritually inferior to her husband. Patterson was blinded by this wrong teaching. These men don't understand that men are still sinful human beings and giving them such power over females leads to abuse.
