Can i still sign up for an google Adsense Account even though i am not 18?

it says i need to be 18 to get a google adsense account but i have friends who get paid buy youtube who arnt 18! do i still get the money even though i am not 18, or will the find out and i dont get anything? how does adsense work anyway?!? this is just cause youtube said i could do the partnership thing on one of my videos.
